- ➤ The Utah Avalanche Center warns of high avalanche danger in northern Utah mountains today due to heavy snowfall & strong winds affecting the Wasatch, Bear River and Western Uinta ranges. Backcountry travelers are advised to carry rescue equipment and avoid steep, exposed terrain. KJZZ

- ➤ Utah LDS missionary Caleb Gene Martin died in his sleep Saturday, Jan. 3 in New Mexico, and his church said a planned autopsy (to determine his medical cause) will follow after nearly 20 months of service. Mid Utah Radio

- ➤ Local agents say the housing market now favors buyers as the new year begins, with more homes available and sellers offering incentives like lower mortgage rates plus concessions. First-time buyer Connor Last locked in a 4.99% rate and plans to rent extra bedrooms for extra income. KUTV
