- ➤ Family members of four Utah children found in Croatia are working with Croatian lawyers and the U.S. Embassy to get them back—legal translations and court work may slow the process. KUTV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ State lawmakers have asked all agencies to model a 5% budget cut that may reduce public higher education funding by ($94 million) for programs including scholarships and student services. Education leaders urge decision-makers to reconsider further cuts after consecutive reductions in funding. The Salt Lake Tribune
- ➤ State lawmakers are considering a policy that would require third graders to repeat the year if they do not reach reading level, following discussions at a recent conference in Ogden by Gov. - ➤ Water officials advise starting conservation efforts as the snowpack stands at 62% of the median average as of Friday, even though the region is not in drought — forecasts call for drier conditions until later next month. Mid Utah Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A state agency said the agriculture water optimization program saved about 100,000 acre-feet per year by funding 689 projects (using efficient irrigation equipment upgrades). Lawmakers on Capitol Hill reviewed the $153 million effort aimed at keeping more water in the Great Salt Lake. FOX 13

- ➤ Local resident Jeff Lutz says spending time outdoors at Sullivan Park helps ease stress from constant negative news, while Lehi therapist Lindsay Cowdin advises limiting social media to protect mental health and encourage families to get more vitamin D. FOX 13
- ➤ Intermountain Health performed 515 organ transplants in 2025, breaking its previous record of 489 and marking a first for Utah. The center will host a celebration with recipients + donors to honor the milestone and unveil a commemorative display. KUTV
