ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in northern Utah have dropped to about $2.64 per gallon in Ogden and Provo, while Salt Lake City prices are near $2.66 and the national average has risen to $2.87, according to GasBuddy's analysis. The report shows Provo prices decreased by $0.04 over the past week.  KJZZ
  • PacifiCorp announced plans to sell its Washington power plants and wind farms for $1.9 billion, a move state leaders say supports Utah’s focus on local energy as the sale is set to finalize within a year + the shift aims to simplify operations and boost the state’s energy strategy.  The Salt Lake Tribune

  • Imagication for kids ages 2-5 will take place at City Court by Dillard’s this Monday at 11:00 a.m., featuring a reading of 'How to Catch a Leprechaun' with special guests Peter Pan + Tink and offering photo ops, games, and coloring activities. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State Rep. Matt MacPherson requested $10 million for a self-driving taxi and bus pilot project on Utah roads—aiming to demonstrate safety as state legislation evolves ahead of the 2034 Olympics.  KJZZ

HEALTH NEWS

  • St. Patrick’s Day brings the 2026 Lucky Laces 5K & Health Fair in University Place, where check-in starts at 9:00 a.m. and the 5K begins at 9:30 a.m.; participants can enter a free contest featuring Lucky Charms eating, explore local health resources, and enjoy breakfast for finishers if registered by March 13 at noon.  University Place Orem
  • Rep. Kristen Chevrier plans to ban titanium dioxide & extend rules to other additives in school meals. Large districts must follow the rule for the 2026-27 school year & smaller districts may adopt it next year.  KUTV
