COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Orem residents with young children can join a special Easter Imagication session on April 14 at 12:00 PM at The Kids Place outdoor area—kids ages two to five will hear the story 'Pete The Cat and The Easter Bunny Bandit,' meet characters like Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, the Easter Bunny and Pawlet the Bunny from Build-a-Bear, and join an Easter egg hunt. Registration is required for children as space is limited.  University Place Orem
  • The Orchard hosts an Easter Extravaganza with free activities like taking pictures with the Easter Bunny, a petting zoo, pony and train rides, mini golf, DJ shows, face painting and a visit from Build A Bear’s Pawlette, with special guest appearances between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.—the event does not include an Easter egg hunt. Stage events run from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. and include storytime and a magic show.  University Place Orem

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Imagication takes place on the 2nd & 4th Mondays at 11:00 am at the Orchard at University Place for kids aged 2-5, and this week children will hear the book Star Wars: The Mandalorian, A Clan of Two by Brooke Vitale and meet Luke & Leia with games, coloring, photo sessions, and a treat from Bobby's Burgers. Registration is required and opens on the Monday before at 12:00 p.m. with a limit of 3 tickets per order.  University Place Orem
  • Utah County officials have released new maps that will split the Alpine School District into three parts, each with seven board members (replacing the current structure). A final vote is set for March 26 and candidates can file in June if elected in November (with seats beginning in January 2026).  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Labor groups in Utah began gathering signatures on Saturday to place a referendum on the 2026 ballot that would repeal a law banning public employee union contract talks—Protect Utah Workers needs 140,748 valid signatures and is using both volunteers and a paid firm to meet the high standards. The campaign holds events in several cities and expects more labor organizations to assist with funding the effort.  The Salt Lake Tribune
  • On March 13th, 2025, the Bureau of Reclamation transferred 35.5 miles of the Strawberry Valley Project 46-kilovolt power transmission system to Southern Utah Valley Power Systems— a nonprofit with representatives from local cities. SUVPS now has full control to upgrade the system— which may see nearly $100 million in improvements over the next five years.  Daily Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new partnership between Breeze Airways and Make-A-Wish Utah granted four families—one including 12-year-old Sophia Ostler, who was injured in a car accident in July 2023—an all-expenses-paid trip from Provo Airport on March 12th, 2025. The flight took the families to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort and supports a goal to grant at least 220 wishes this year+ Breeze Airways will provide up to 700 seats for future trips.  Daily Herald
