CRIME NEWS

  • A Utah judge dismissed six felony sex abuse charges against former therapist David Hamblin for withholding key evidence—this dismissal with prejudice means the charges cannot be refiled while he still faces separate child abuse allegations in another case.  The Salt Lake Tribune
  • Santaquin nurse Meggan Randall Sundwall was arrested on felony charges after she allegedly administered insulin to non-diabetic Kacee Lyn Terry—court documents state she planned to claim a non-existent life insurance policy and detectives recovered over 20,000 text messages supporting her long-running scheme.  Daily Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents in Saratoga Springs cleaned up Utah Lake by removing 21 big tractor tires in a project that took about 60 hours over four days. They used a mini excavator and tractor—funded by their homeowners association—to help keep the lake healthy.  Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, the Utah Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit from seven young residents challenging the state’s fossil fuel policy, ruling that their claims were too general to tie to specific government actions. Gov. Spencer Cox praised the ruling—calling it a win against what he said is a radical environmental agenda—and said the state will work with Idaho and Wyoming on a tri-state energy compact to boost innovation and reliable power for residents.  Daily Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Utah cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Christopher Kelly, has been placed on probation for five years after patients suffered infections and significant scarring from his cosmetic surgeries—he must undergo a mental health evaluation, complete an ethics course, and perform surgeries only under supervision until he gets board certified.  FOX 13
