ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A driver on Highway 6 near Spanish Fork narrowly avoided a dangerous mudslide that sent trees, brush, and rock crashing onto the road while he was on a spring break mountain bike trip with his kids—quick braking kept him safe.  KUTV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold its 195th annual general conference on Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6, with over 100,000 members expected in Salt Lake City and millions watching online. Downtown roads will be shut down for the event — and officials advise using public transit, which will be free with a conference ticket.  ABC4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Health Secretary RFK Jr. will join GOP lawmakers in Salt Lake City on Monday for a victory lap after Utah passed laws to ban fluoride in water, bar SNAP funds from buying soda and limit additives in school meals—EPA head Lee Zeldin will join him while Gov. Spencer Cox is in Canada on a trade mission.  The Salt Lake Tribune
  • The Utah State Board of Education rejected a request on Thursday to formally adopt an anti-DEI stance that would label diversity, equity and inclusion as a Marxist practice — the 10-4 vote came after hundreds of phone calls and emails expressed strong concern over the measure.  The Salt Lake Tribune

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross and Utah Pet Partners teamed up in March to provide therapy dogs at the VA campus—where four dogs have already served at three events for more than 300 individuals. The partnership is part of the Red Cross’s ongoing mission to support military families and veterans.  ABC4
