ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Christopher Caru Warden, 79—the president of Utah Krishnas—died when his car entered oncoming traffic on Main Street near 1400 North in Springville on Monday, with others sustaining minor injuries.  FOX 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 2nd annual Orem Asian Festival will take place soon, offering booths, cultural performances, activities and food to celebrate Asian culture in Orem. Parking is free and weather conditions may affect the schedule, so check local updates.  University Place Orem
  • Residents can join the 2026 May the 4th Celebration on Monday, May 4 at The Orchard at University Place; the event offers character meet and greets, Jedi training, lightsaber craft, and a kids story area with sessions from 6:15 pm to 7:45 pm. ECONOMY NEWS

  • WalletHub's new report named Utah the top state for remote work due to low electricity costs, affordable internet, and larger homes — which help make remote work feasible. The study says 18% of residents work remotely while more than 95% could in the future.  Mid Utah Radio
  • The Salt Lake Tribune analysis found that airfares from Salt Lake City International Airport (a major Delta hub) rank among the highest nationwide, and the report raises questions on how to lower these costs.  The Salt Lake Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Utah Valley University, researchers use AI to virtually unroll 2,000-year-old scrolls — now on display behind glass at the Clarke Building free conference through Friday; visitors must register online to attend.  FOX 13
  • The Utah Board of Higher Education approved a 2.8% increase in tuition and fees at all state colleges, raising costs by between $105 and $317 per academic year starting this fall (effective 2026). Officials said the board limited nonessential fee hikes to control inflation and keep costs lower than national rates.  KUTV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Water reclamation facility managers warned that the EPA may soon require treatment for PFAS — forever chemicals — which could add up to $250 extra a month to sewer bills as local utilities plan costly upgrades. The proposed changes might force residents to pay more, with some facilities facing investments nearing $1 billion.  FOX 13
