EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Schools in Utah reported that nearly 50 international students had their visas revoked or records terminated, with counts including 20 at University of Utah, 9 each at Utah Tech and Southern Utah, 5 at Weber State, 3 at Utah Valley, and 2 at Snow College while Utah State did not share its numbers. Some schools advised students to keep their immigration papers up to date as the process now sometimes happens without notice—University of Utah directed students to national groups for guidance. - ➤ On Wednesday, Westmore Elementary School in Orem partnered with Utah Valley University to offer free on-campus dental exams, X-rays, cleanings and sealants to nearly 60 students—many from low-income families—and help prevent dental pain and absences. Westmore principal Vic Larsen said the program, which will continue twice a week, is designed to ensure students receive proper dental care and improve their ability to learn—an initiative showing strong community effort. - ➤ At Farm Field Days on April 8 at Harward Farms in Springville, kids learned about agriculture as sheep farmer Jim Jensen explained that wool quickly returns to shape when hit, keeping a baseball round. The event—organized by the Utah Farm Bureau with Future Farmers and Utah State Extension—featured 14 stations where children learned how farms produce food and clothing. Daily Herald
