ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new study by the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute shows that Utah’s median household income reached $98,336 when adjusted for cost of living — more than 25% above the national average — making it the highest in the nation and reflecting strong economic fundamentals such as large household sizes and high labor participation rates.  ABC4

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Stan Holmes replaced his lawn with water-wise landscaping by using lavender plants, yucca and native grass to cut his water bill. Local water experts encourage residents to change park strips now so they are better prepared for future droughts.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Postal Service and Postal Inspection Service warned local residents today about mail scams including online romance scams and phishing texts that ask for money or personal information. Postal inspector Brook Robinson advised consumers not to send money to people they have not met and to report suspicious messages following official instructions.  ABC4
  • The Air Force built a working F-35 fighter jet at Hill Air Force Base using parts from two damaged jets—one hurt in a 2014 fire in Florida and one damaged during a 2020 landing in Utah—and it flew for the first time in January before joining the 388th Fighter Wing, which saved about $63 million in costs.  KUTV
  • The Utah Transit Authority announced significant changes to bus services in Davis, Salt Lake and Utah County that will begin Sunday, April 13—adding new routes and adjustments to existing ones. These changes include new routes in Salt Lake with expanded stops, a new route and on-demand zone in Utah County covering West Provo and Orem, and route adjustments in Davis County to improve service coverage.  ABC4
