ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Police responded to an incident Saturday night in Springville after a woman’s car stalled on the tracks at 400 North and 400 West and was hit by a train; no one was injured and police closed the crossing at 400 North and Center Street as they investigated. FOX 13
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, a 34-year-old man with past DUI arrests was arrested in Provo for driving under the influence after a single-car accident—he was hurt by a gunshot to the head when he accidentally fired a friend's gun and police later found alcohol and drugs in his car. FOX 13
- ➤ On Friday night, Oscar Diaz—a convicted felon with three DUI offenses—accidentally shot himself in the forehead while driving under the influence near Waffle Love in Provo and then crashed his vehicle; he was later arrested on 12 charges. KUTV

- ➤ On April 10, near-perfect weather let families stroll through rows of tulips and spring flowers at Ashton Gardens during Thanksgiving Point’s Tulip Festival. Erin Mecklenburg from Elk Ridge and her three daughters, along with hundreds of visitors, enjoyed new features — such as large colorful topiaries — that refreshed this annual tradition. Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The F-35A Lightning II—dubbed Frankenjet because it was built from parts of two damaged aircraft—is now fully operational at Hill Air Force Base to fly with the 4th Fighter Squadron. Airmen from the F-35 Joint Program Office, Ogden Air Logistics Complex and Lockheed Martin rebuilt it after one plane was damaged in a nose-gear collapse in 2020 and another in an engine fire in 2014. - ➤ On Monday, the Utah Attorney General’s Office will announce that Mylan Pharmaceuticals, now merged into Viatris, has agreed to pay $335 million to settle a national lawsuit over its role in the opioid crisis by distributing the funds over the next nine years. Utah is set to receive $81 million as part of the funds distributed to states that join the settlement — additional payments will follow. FOX 13
