BUSINESS NEWS

  • Monday afternoon, three cars with Utah plates came to the Juicity Vapor shop in Evanston, Wyoming to buy flavored vape products after the state ban took effect—customers from Weber, Utah, and Sanpete counties made the trip. The drive took about an hour and a half and sales rose as the shop added extra staff—its new cash register will help meet ongoing demand.  ABC4

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Utah Governor Spencer Cox promoted education bills on Monday—one that included $65 million in grants to expand career and technical education. High school senior Jackson Chapman is taking vehicle repair courses at Davis Technical College and said he hopes more students will have the same opportunity.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Provo Airport has operated at full capacity with four gates while a three-year expansion project will add six more to meet rising travel demand. Provo Mayor Michelle Kaufusi says the upgrade will boost convenience—though some local residents worry about increased noise and traffic.  FOX 13
  • The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole launched the first phase of its new victim notification system—MyVoice—to send email alerts to crime victims when an offender's parole is granted. Officials said the board will add text message notifications as the system expands.  KUTV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Former Utah Jazz Bear Jon Absey, known for entertaining fans and visiting sick children, is fighting pancreatic cancer by using an oxygen chamber and changing his eating habits while he awaits important test results today. Governor Spencer Cox declared April 14 as Jon Absey Day and a fundraiser was set up to support his fight.  KJZZ
