- ➤ The U.S. Navy suspended its search for Information Systems Technician Gabriel D. Holt, a sailor from Washington who went missing on April 19 while the USS Nimitz was docked in Guam. The search—lasting 120 hours and covering over 11,000 square miles—ended as Navy officials expressed deep sympathy for Holt's family, friends, and shipmates. KUTV
- ➤ Governor Spencer Cox declared a state of emergency in 17 counties because of worsening drought conditions following a recommendation from the state's drought response committee—42 percent of the state is under severe drought— and officials urge residents in areas like Washington, Tooele, and Carbon Counties to save water and practice fire safety as a dry winter and low snowpack increase wildfire risk.
