  • On April 25, pickleball players competed at Hillcrest Park in Orem and raised at least $17,750 for the Children’s Justice Center to help victims of abuse. Local groups hosted the event with over 100 players taking part—former Gov. Gary Herbert also attended.  Daily Herald

CRIME NEWS

  • Orem man Eric Whitaker, 41, was arrested after police responded on Friday morning near Provo Towne Center when he was reported to have brandished a gun and a search of his car and apartment found a handgun, ammunition magazines, bomb-making materials and 71 homemade incendiary devices—officers evacuated 12 apartment units while investigators seek his motive.  Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Anti-public union groups said they will focus on educating voters for the November 2026 ballot rather than try to rescind the signatures already collected. They believe Utahns will support H.B. 267 (Public Sector Labor Union Amendments) when they fully understand its effects.  ABC4
