Good morning, Orem.

On Monday night, law enforcement was involved in a deadly shooting in Orem near 800 East 400 North where members of the Utah County Major Crimes task force served a warrant, shots were fired, one suspect was injured and later pronounced dead, and investigators continue probing the incident + the Utah County Officer Involved protocol team is handling the case.

An Orem salesman, 27-year-old Kole Glen Brimhall, was sentenced to one year in federal prison after pleading guilty to defrauding over 130 investors out of more than $5 million through a social media scheme—he will also serve three years of supervised release and pay restitution.

U.S. News has ranked Utah the best state for the third year in a row, praising its strong economy and low crime while noting problems with pollution.

The ranking is based on eight areas (like education, health care, and roads) and shows that Utah bounces back quickly when the economy slows (Natalie Gochnour of the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute said so).

U.S. News & World Report showed that Utah was ranked the best state for the third year in a row, with strong marks in education, economy, and infrastructure — even though it scored low for natural environment.

State leaders said hardworking Utahns played a big part in the success and that the report will guide investors and policymakers in the months ahead.
