Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 18th of May.
Good morning, Orem.
🏛️ Government
Former Congressman and FOX News host Jason Chaffetz moved funds from his federal PAC to his state PAC (holding about $200,000) as part of early steps that suggest he may run for governor in 2028.
He said he is exploring his options while supporting conservative candidates statewide.
At the Utah GOP convention in Orem on May 17th, over 2,600 delegates gathered to reelect Rob Axson as party chair while Gov. Spencer Cox skipped the event for a second time.
Delegates debated measures on signature gathering and party rules and removed an amendment that would have revoked membership from candidates who use petitions—reflecting ongoing tensions over the party’s ballot entry process.
