- ➤ Community Action is renovating the HART Apartment Complex into six furnished two-bedroom units to house families up to three months, boosted by a $10,000 donation from Utah Central Association of Realtors for efficient windows; begun last summer at a cost near $600,000, the project supports self-reliance in Orem. - ➤ Gov. Spencer Cox declared a state of emergency Thursday, May 21 as every county entered severe drought after a warm winter left low snowpack and reservoirs. The order opens access to federal funding for farmers and urges Utahns to curb outdoor water use. Daily Herald
- ➤ The ULA is seeking community input to improve 11 Utah Lake access points in its Utah Lake Tomorrow plan. Open houses will be Tuesday 6-8 p.m. in Saratoga Springs, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Utah Lake State Park, and June 9 6-8 p.m. in Spanish Fork. Daily Herald
- ➤ Memorial Day weekend starts with plans for longer drives as the Utah Department of Transportation predicts up to 90-minute delays in Spanish Fork Canyon and about 100-thousand travelers at Salt Lake International Airport, so drivers should plan their trips carefully. Mid Utah Radio
