- ➤ Mapleton residents see their town change as the population has grown from 7,000 (when City Hall was built in 2005) to nearly 18,000 while they worry that more houses may crowd open spaces and strain water supplies. KJZZ
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The average price for a gallon of gas in Utah dropped by a penny today, with a five-cent fall over the past week, according to Triple-A. Prices are $5.00 in Piute — $4.47 in Tooele and $4.53 in Salt Lake. Mid Utah Radio
- ➤ Rocky Mountain Power said wildfire risk, low snowpack, and dry conditions may lead to more outages for customers in Orem — the utility cautions that transmission lines can shut off power suddenly to prevent disasters. Mid Utah Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Utah State Board of Education announced free summer meals for children, with families able to visit local meal sites based on their school zones + some sites require on-site seating while others allow meals to go. Some sites have already begun services, and others will start in mid-June. KJZZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Utah Lake Authority is surveying residents for input on plans at 11 lake access points via surveys open online until June 19 (offering a paddleboard raffle) and open houses held on May 26 at Saratoga Springs, May 30 at Utah Lake State Park, and June 9 in Spanish Fork. KJZZ
