Fire crews battled a blaze near the haunted house Fear Factory on July 23, reporting smoke in the area and a closure on 800 S; they brought the fire under control by 8:15 p.m.—no buildings were damaged and no injuries occurred as crews continued mop up and investigated the cause.

After nearly a month with no leads, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office announced an anonymous offer of $10,000 to help arrest a suspect who fired gunshots at the Krishna temple in Spanish Fork in June — no one was hurt.

Kihei Akina, an 18-year-old golfer, will tee it up at the Utah Championship next week at Ogden Golf & Country Club after making the cut last year on the Korn Ferry Tour—he will use the experience to prepare for his freshman season with BYU and future PGA Tour appearances.
