- ➤ The Utah Board of Pardons — Parole is granting a commutation hearing to convicted murderer Ralph Menzies, who will face a firing squad on Sept. 5 for his 1988 kidnapping and killing of Maurine Hunsaker, after his lawyers said his severe dementia makes his planned execution unfair. FOX 13

- ➤ BYU professor Alex Jensen's study found that younger siblings received more favorable treatment while older siblings were given more independence—research based on nearly 19,500 responses showed that children who feel less favored may face more mental health challenges and problematic behavior. - ➤ Conservation efforts are being forced on the Great Salt Lake after water levels dropped to 4,192 feet in the south arm and 4,191.6 feet in the north arm—roughly six feet below the healthy minimum of 4,198 feet.
