Officials in Utah County are evacuating American Fork Canyon near the Tibble Fork Area and have closed SR-144 at the Alpine Loop because a fire is affecting the roadway+ the Forest Service is fighting the blaze with crews sent on foot and by air drop.

Officials have not yet determined the fire's cause.

A fire forced the closure of American Fork Canyon at the Alpine Loop and blocked access to Tibble Fork Reservoir—authorities evacuated the canyon and officials estimated that the road reopened around noon on Monday.

State officials have created a new task force to fight construction fraud after Utahns lost $32 million in three years with new home buyers losing an average of $302,000.
