ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A semitrailer carrying garbage overturned on the northbound I-15 on-ramp from 800 North in Orem on Wednesday, blocking two lanes while officials planned to roll the truck back—though the driver was unharmed.  FOX 13

CRIME NEWS

  • An Idaho man pleaded guilty to attempted murder and five counts of felony discharge of a firearm for shooting at a security guard outside Provo Missionary Training Center on Aug. 3, 2020 — the guard was injured by shattered glass though the shots missed him. He will be sentenced on Oct. 7.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State officials say road deaths from Memorial Day to Labor Day are down 18% this summer with 77 fatalities compared to 94 last year—crashes have hit a 10-year low even as fatal motorcycle crashes have increased by 36%, prompting calls for extra caution. Officials urge both riders and drivers to share the road safely.  FOX 13
  • Governor Spencer Cox said he is prepared to call a special session if the legislature does not resolve redistricting issues. Senate Majority Leader Kirk Cullimore and the League of Women Voters expressed hope for compromise—lawmakers are reviewing new map proposals under Proposition 4.  FOX 13
