- ➤ Governor Cox announced yesterday that $200M was raised for Great Salt Lake restoration, with half from Ducks Unlimited and half from Great Salt Lake Rising, and he said the lake will be restored in time for the 2034 Winter Olympic Games—he urged Utahns to commit to its preservation. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ With Congress close to a budget deadline, Utah communities brace for a government shutdown that could limit park services — trash collection and shuttles at national parks may be cut. Springdale officials warn that visitors at Zion National Park might face more traffic and fewer amenities as plans are updated for 2025. KUTV
- ➤ On a podcast hosted by Heidi Hatch, guests—including Maura Carabello and Utah State Senator Daniel McCay—discussed redistricting maps and invited public comments until October 5th, with plans to submit the maps for court approval, while Gov. Spencer Cox announced Great Salt Lake conservation measures and a $200 million pledge to restore the lake’s elevation for the 2034 Winter Olympics. UVU has formed a committee for a Charlie Kirk memorial amid divided petition responses, Sutherland’s CEO Rick Larsen will step back effective January 1, and the federal government may shut down if Congress fails to pass a spending bill before October 1.
