  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced on Tuesday that Dallin H. Oaks is its new president — selected after President Russell M. Nelson’s funeral — with Henry B. Eyring and D. Todd Christofferson as counselors. The leadership change follows the church tradition of seniority and comes after President Nelson’s death on Sept. 27.  KUTV

  • The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Tuesday its new First Presidency—naming President Dallin H. Oaks as church president and selecting Henry B. Eyring and D. Todd Christofferson as counselors following President Russell M. Nelson’s death on Sept. 27.  KJZZ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Utah Department of Transportation began work Tuesday night on new lanes carved into the mountainside along US-189 near Deer Creek Reservoir as part of a multiyear project. The effort will widen the highway to two lanes in each direction with nightly lane closures between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.—and it is expected to be finished by fall.  KUTV
