  • Amid the ongoing shutdown, Utah families struggle to afford food for both themselves and their pets. Ruf Haven Crisis Sheltering’s largest pet pantry in the state at 264 S. Glendale St. in Salt Lake City has seen a 25% rise in demand over the past month — officials say SNAP benefits do not cover pet food.  KUTV
  • Amid the federal government shutdown, several Utah County cities will host food donation barrels at polling locations on Election Day, Nov. 4 to help families affected by the SNAP shutdown—voters can drop off items such as canned soups and diapers at designated locations in American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Provo and Vineyard.  KUTV
  • Utah restaurants are offering free meals to support people affected by the government shutdown and SNAP delays—Yummy's Korean BBQ & Sushi in Orem will offer free fried rice while other eateries in Salt Lake City, Clearfield, and Payson provide similar support. This effort comes as federal workers and local families await continued food assistance.  The Salt Lake Tribune
