- ➤ A study by the Gardner Institute found that Utah residents spent a near record $630 million on local ski trips during the 2024-25 season—accounting for 25% of the $2.51 billion spent at resorts. Out-of-state visitors spent nearly three times more per day, and their spending on lodging, food and lift tickets helped drive $13.3 billion in revenue for Utah’s ski industry. The Salt Lake Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ UVU announced plans to hire eight new police officers and add two safety managers after campus security concerns following Charlie Kirk’s killing. Experts say the new hires—raising the force from 22 to about 30—remain far below the recommended level for a campus with more than 48,000 students, and they urged the state to provide extra funding.
