CULTURE NEWS

  • Starting December 2, select Tuesdays in December will feature visits with Santa and his friends at Santa’s Village in the west end of a shopping center (between Warby Parker and Tradehome Shoes). The events will be free, and visitors must take their own photos while photography with Santa is not allowed (weather conditions may change plans).  University Place Orem

ECONOMY NEWS

  • KUTV2News is launching a new segment that tracks what Utah families pay for food by buying four staples — milk, eggs, bread, and cheese. The project will soon offer updated price comparisons for local grocery shoppers.  KUTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Utah Department of Transportation said new data show seatbelt use dropped from 92% in 2022 to 89% this year—warning that even one unbuckled person can raise the risk of severe injury; the agency urged all drivers and passengers to buckle up to protect everyone in the car.  KJZZ
  • Governor Spencer Cox said today at his monthly PBS news conference that the new 'Utah 2034' Olympic logo has united Utah because many people did not like it — he added the design is temporary and the final logo will come out in 2029.  FOX 13

HEALTH NEWS

  • Health officials said measles cases at Wasatch High School in Heber City have risen to 8 after three unvaccinated students tested positive from exposure during recent school events—prompting officials to require unvaccinated students possibly exposed to quarantine for 21 days. The school resumed a normal schedule Monday and Tuesday as officials continue to monitor the outbreak.  FOX 13
  • Therapists and BYU experts warn that AI companions, which do not feel emotions, may have contributed to a teen’s suicide after dangerous interactions with a chatbot. New measures such as California Senate Bill 243 and ongoing research will try to protect minors and address the fast-growing risks—highlighting the unclear balance between benefit and harm.  FOX 13

  • Local Christmas Carolers will perform on select Wednesday evenings starting December 3rd, roaming hallways to share festive tunes with the community—parking is free and events depend on the weather.  University Place Orem
