  • United Way is asking community members to help Tanya and Roy’s family and 329 families in need this season — donors can support children’s wish lists that include clothing, toys, and sports equipment for the holidays.  Daily Herald
  • Hundreds of families lined up early Wednesday at a Lehi building for a free toy giveaway in collaboration with Trina’s Kids & this caused heavy traffic along southern roads. Organizers aimed to help over 1,000 local families by providing 15,000 toys at cost.  KUTV

FINANCE NEWS

  • Financial experts advise Orem residents to tighten their holiday budgets and set clear saving goals for 2026 when December spending peaks. Dave Nellis from America First Credit Union recommends creating a simple tracker (a tool to remind you of your objectives) to keep finances in check.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Officials from the Utah Division for Consumer Protection warned that scammers are using AI to mimic relatives and call older adults with fake emergencies ahead of the holidays, and they urged residents to verify any unexpected requests by contacting family members directly.  FOX 13
  • Data from the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute (covering Utah’s growth) show that Utah’s population reached over 3.55 million between July 2024 and July 2025, with Utah County adding nearly 16,000 residents while growth slowed from 1.5% to 1.3%.  KUTV

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday night, Dec. 17, Utah Mammoth topped Detroit Red Wings four to one. Clayton Keller scored and assisted on a goal plus Nick Schmaltz reached 300 career assists as the Mammoth improved their winning streak ahead of their next game.  KUTV
